PAT stands for portable Appliance Testing. This is a process by which electrical appliances are routinely checked to see whether they are safe to use.

What does the Portable Aplicance Testing involve?

We would inspect, test and certify all your portable appliances and provide advice as to their condition and safety.

We would provide a written report together with a test certificate as evidence that your appliances have been inspected and tested in compliance with the Regulations.

Typically, an inspection would check for the following:

  • Damaged cables
  • Damaged plugs including cracks and burn marks
  • Physical damage inspection
  • Faulty wiring
  • Fuse ratings

Each appliance would be tested for earth continuity, insulation resistance, polarity and earth leakage.

The guidelines recommend that any business, organisation, office, disco's etc where people are coming into contact with electrical equipment should be pat tested
